Merci Quebec

Earlier this year, the Trails In Motion Film Festival was contacted by Marline Côté, proprietor of Accour Quebec, and passionate member of the trail running community in Quebec, Canada. Her intentions were clear from the start. She was going to put together a multi-stop tour that would travel around to some of the local trail running groups in the province, all in aid of charity. That said charity: Courir pour la vie, a non-profit organization that works to prevent suicide in and around Quebec.  "For Accour Québec, we found a way to achieve our goal to support the community through running…

Having a lot of options for maintained, runnable trails also made Torres del Paine…

Film making 101: Take advice from a 12 year old

For those of us who run, the daily run becomes an important ritual.  For some of us it is how we wake up the body and commune with nature.  When you run first thing in the morning (or for whatever reason you get up early) you pack in a whole bunch of experiences that seem like you are getting two days out of one.  In the film I wanted to capture this feeling and to give non-runners a sense of what you can do with a little extra time in the morning.  Words and photos by Steven Gnam I also…

The making of Finding Traction

A good friend of mine from film school, Rick Smith, met Nikki in an airport, and she mentioned her plans to spend four and a half days attempting to break a speed record on America's oldest hiking trail, the 273-mile Long Trail in Vermont. Words by director Jaime Jacobsen | Photos © Partnership Productions Not long after, in early 2011, I…
